The See to Succeed initiative aims to improve vision and vision related health, education and social factors by performing annual vision exams and providing eye wear.

PROJECT SAVING SMILES
Project Saving Smiles reduces the prevalence of tooth decay in underserved children and remove barriers to learning. This is accomplished by providing dental screenings, dental sealants, fluoride varnish, and oral health education free of charge targeting Houston’s at-risk 2nd graders who are enrolled in schools with 70% or more students on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.

The Basics Houston, an affiliate of The Basics Learning Network, is helping to lead innovation in early childhood development and learning experience. By empowering parents and caregivers throughout the Greater Houston community using the five fun, scientifically validated Basics Principles, we can help give children a great start in and quality of life by providing free education resources!

COMMUNITY GARDEN
The Community Nutrition Program helps combat food deserts and improves access to healthy produce by supporting community gardens and farmers markets. The Community Nutrition program’s 12 community garden locations encourages communities to share and utilize open spaces that have been created to grow organic and nutritional produce families can use to cook at home.

Sam Houston High School Sr., LeJuan Starghill was excited to meet Mayor Sylvester Turner as he welcomed students from high schools based in the Complete Communities neighborhoods and Houston Health Department My Brother’s Keeper catchment areas and celebrated their year-long achievements in the Team Up Houston initiative Wednesday, May 15, 2019, in Houston.
“See to Succeed” examinations
A few weeks after boarding Aldine ISD buses to a “See to Succeed” examination day, Black Elementary students were summoned to their school cafeteria to receive the frames they selected with their personal prescriptions in the lenses.

CEO/PRESIDENT
Robin Mansur joined the Houston Health Foundation as its first President and CEO in October 2016. Prior to her arrival, Robin was instrumental to the development of Greater Houston Healthconnect, Houston's regional health information exchange (HIE).
